3Di Overview

3Di is a novel cloud computing platform for advanced (3D) visualization and analysis of medical images. With zero upfront cost, 3Di turns any internet PC to a full feature advanced visualization workstation - delivering both image data, visualization and analysis tools.
Hospitals and outpatient centers can use 3Di to send diagnostic images for interpretation by remote radiologists or share them with referring doctors and patients. Radiologists can use 3Di to consult with their peers. Surgeons can use 3Di to plan procedures and assess outcomes. Referring doctors can use 3Di to discuss findings with their patients. And patients can use 3Di for second opinion and to avoid carrying CDs or film jackets between multiple care providers.
3Di comprises of three main functional components:

  1. 3Di Client is a thin client application that downloads and installs automatically the first time 3Di is used on the PC.
  2. 3Di Cloud is an online clearinghouse and storage repository for clinical images - receiving images from multiple sources and delivering them to multiple users. 3Di Cloud also serves users with the image visualization and analysis tools they need on the client PC.
  3. 3Di Uploader is a smart and thin image uploader application. Installed on site with the imaging modalities or PACS, 3Di Uploader transfers image data securely and efficiently to the 3Di Cloud.

Depending on user needs and preferences, 3Di offers two modes of usage:

  1. 3Di-Local: Image data is sent from the 3DCloud to the designated user's PC. Image visualization and analysis is available through the local 3Di Client after the data set has fully downloaded.  This mode is most suitable for users who need to review all imaging studies sent to them and are not time constrained in terms of image review.
  2. 3Di-Remote: Image data is kept on the 3Di Cloud for the designated user and is available for processing on demand using any 3Di Client.  No image data is stored on the local PC. This mode is most suitable for users who occasionally need to review some of the imaging studies sent to them or are required to review within a short time.
